Explain the Functions of H.S.C. and S.S.C. board

H.S.C. and S.S.C. boards were established on 1st Jan 1996 with 3 divisional boards at Pune, Nagpur, and Aurangabad who work with the help of the Statutory and Exam committees.
Policy decisions are taken by the State board and school examinations are the responsibility of the divisional boards.
Functions of the board
- Give advice to state boards on implementation of secondary school and examination matters.
- Present every academic year’s budget to the State Board.
- Gives recognition to secondary schools and junior colleges.
- Select examiners, paper-setters, directors and centres for the SSC and HSC exams.
- Collect fees from the students who are appearing for the board exams.
- Finalize the place, centres and dates for the SSC and HSC exams.
- To declare the time-table for these exams.
- Prescribe textbooks to the students who are appearing for these exams.
- Conduct school exams on behalf of the state board.
- The divisional boards conduct the SSC and HSC exams on behalf of the state board.
