What is BCC?
BCC stands for Blind Carbon Copy. It’s a type of email sending option by which a copy of an email sent to one or more recipients invisibly. It is used to send same email message to multiple users at same time while keeping the email addresses of all recipients hidden from each other.
When using BCC to send out emails, the sender includes a list of email addresses in the BCC field. The recipient will not know which other persons were included in that list or even how many people were included. The recipient will only see their own email address in the ‘To:’ field. So, this type of email sending abruptly keeps your email address secret from other recipients.
Why use BCC?
BCC is mainly used for two reasons. Firstly, it helps the sender to save time as they do not have to type or copy-paste every recipient’s email address in the ‘To’ field. Secondly, it helps the sender to protect their recipient’s email addresses from being visible to one another.
When to use BCC?
BCC should be used if you are sending a bulk email to multiple recipients. It is especially useful when sending to a group of people that you do not personally know, or if you’re sending an email with sensitive or confidential information.
BCC also helps you to save time and to more efficiently manage the address lists of your recipients. If you’re sending out an email to a large group of people, it can be useful to be able to lookup and edit specific addresses in the BCC list.
How to use BCC?
In most email clients you will be able to set your recipients in both the ‘To’ and ‘BCC’ field. Just make sure to enter your recipients in the BCC field if you want to keep their addresses hidden. Once you’re done adding all your email addresses, just hit the send button to send your message to multiple recipients at the same time.
By using BCC to send out your email message, you can avoid embarrassing situations such as accidentally disclosing all the recipient’s email addresses to each other
