NCR stands for National Capital Region. Think of it as a big area that includes not only Delhi but also parts of nearby states like UP, Rajasthan, and Haryana. So, it’s like Delhi plus some parts of its neighbouring states.

Why was NCR created?

Back in 1962, planners realized Delhi was getting crowded. So, they thought of including nearby areas to manage the population and development better. This idea was officially adopted in 1985.

Delhi: This is the heart of the NCR, including places like New Delhi.

Haryana: Parts of this state in the NCR include:

  • Meerut
  • Shamli

Rajasthan: From this state, two districts are part of the NCR:
