What is the full form of IIT?
IIT full form is Indian Institutes of Technology. It is recognized as the pinnacle of engineering education in India, IITs are autonomous public institutions offering premier education in various engineering disciplines. Under the auspices of the Institutes of Technology Act of 1961, there are currently 23 IITs spread across the country.
These institutes provide undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs in fields such as electrical engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, architecture, and more.
Admission Process at IIT:
For undergraduate B.Tech courses, admissions are based on the scores of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced. On the other hand, admissions to M.Tech and PhD courses are determined through the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), jointly conducted by the IITs and IISc.

Criteria and Process for IIT Admission:
Candidates aiming for IITs should secure at least 75% in their PCM board examinations, although criteria may vary due to reservations. The National Testing Agency (NTA) manages the JEE exams, consisting of JEE Main and JEE Advanced. For IIT admissions, only the JEE Advanced scores matter.
After the release of JEE Advanced rankings, aspirants specify their course and IIT preferences. Following this, a counselling session is held, and based on scores and seat availability, seats are allocated. Selected candidates must then confirm their seats within a given timeframe.
