What is the full form of ITI?

Full form of ITI is Industrial Training Institute.

What does ITI stand for?

ITI means Industrial Training Institute. It’s an institution set up by the government to help students after high school get skills that industries need. Even students who’ve completed 8th grade can join some courses. These places are created for students who want practical knowledge more than traditional higher studies. The main body behind ITIs is the Directorate-General for Employment and Training under the Ministry of Skills Development and Entrepreneurship.

What do ITIs do?

All over India, there are many ITIs, both run by the government and private entities. Once you finish your course at an ITI, you can take the All India Trade Test (AITT). If you pass, you get a National Trade Certificate (NTC). ITIs focus on getting students ready for actual jobs and they even have apprenticeship programs.

How long are ITI courses?

Courses at ITIs, called ‘trades’, can be anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, depending on what you pick.

Kinds of Courses at ITI

There are mainly two types of courses at ITIs:

  1. Engineering Trades: These courses are about techniques and focus on subjects like engineering, science, maths, and technology.
  2. Non-Engineering Trades: These are not too technical and often include languages, soft skills, and other special skills.

Who can join an ITI?

  • You should have completed 10th grade from a known board.
  • You need a minimum of 35% in your 10th grade.
  • At the time of joining, you should be aged between 14 to 40 years.

How do you get into an ITI?

While government ITIs and some top private ones select students based on exams, many private ITIs might admit students directly.
