SVC Bank stands for Shamrao Vithal Co-operative Bank Limited. It is a cooperative bank founded in India in 1906. SVC Bank operates in ten Indian states: Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Rajasthan, Haryana, Goa, Gujarat, Delhi, and Madhya Pradesh.

Brief history of SVC Bank

SVC Bank was founded at a time when the cooperative movement was just beginning to gain ground in India. Its founders were motivated by the desire to support the less privileged people in the community in their economic ventures, encourage savings, and develop funds to provide deserving citizens with financial assistance.

The main developer of the Bank was Late Rao Bahadur Shripad Subbarao Talmaki, who is known as the Maharshi of Cooperation. He named the Bank after Late Shamrao Vithal Kaikini, who was his primary mentor and guide.

SVC Bank began its journey as a Cooperative Credit Society on December 27, 1906. From its humble beginnings, the Bank has grown to become a major player in the Indian cooperative banking sector.
