Shiv Shakti | Landing site of Chandrayaan-3

The Chandrayaan-3’s landing site on the Moon’s south pole is known as Shiv Shakti Point. This title was announced by India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, on August 26, 2023.
“Shiv Shakti” blends the names of two revered figures in Hindu mythology: Shiva, who symbolizes destruction and rebirth, and Shakti, representing strength and vitality. This name mirrors the ambitious spirit and goals of the Chandrayaan-3 mission.
For ISRO, Chandrayaan-3 is a pivotal project. A successful touchdown at Shiv Shakti Point would be a monumental feat. This mission promises to deepen our understanding of the Moon’s structure and past. It might also set the stage for manned missions to the Moon in the future.
